Eli, my dear: the first thing I want to do is thank you, thank you for bringing such pride and joy to my dear brother and sister, Len and Shaoping, and for enriching their lives so immeasurably with love and meaning.
I want to thank you, too, for bringing such delight into my life. Of course, as my dearest bother's son, I would love you no matter what. But in case you didn't already know, I am crazy about you for yourself, for who and what you are. I like you. You tickle me. You delight me. You have enriched my life with your life. You are an exceptional human being. Despite your tender age, you already have an awe-inspiring intelligence, a marvelously droll sense of humor, a dazzling musical talent, a quiet maturity, and an easy-going nature and gentleness that make it pure joy to be around you. The fact that you are tall, dark, and handsome doesn't hurt either!
On this important and joyous day in your life, I wish you everything that is good, and I look forward to a long and happy future of watching you grow and become the wonderful man that I know you will be. As your aunt and president of the Eli Moss Fan Club, it is my great happiness to present you with your first Tallit. May it wrap you in God's love and protection and always serve as a reminder of our ancient and glorious Jewish heritage.
